For Young Adults: How Many Days Will You Live?

“Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” Exodus 20:12

Parents have a responsibility to teach, train, nurture and discipline their children. The word of God declares to parents,

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6. Children have a responsibility to obey their parents. “Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.” Ephesians 6:1 The scripture Exodus 20:12 is one of the ten commandments and it is the first commandment with a promise. If children are obedient to their parents, it is promised that they will have many days of live that Lord gives them.

So my beautiful young children and young adults, I say to you if you want to live a long time, obey your parents and be respectful. Let the Lord bless you and give you long life.

When You Least Expect It

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Don’t be anxious, learn to be patient. Whatever it is that you want or think you need in your life, remember that God wants you to “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.” Matthew 6:33 (NIV) Have you noticed that in a waiting room 5 minutes can seem like forever? But 5 minutes of your favorite show goes by so quickly. The difference seems to be that in a waiting room you want something at the end of the five minutes. When you’re watching your favorite show you’re enjoying yourself during the five minutes. If we can learn to be with God and enjoy Him during the “five minutes,” instead of expect something after waiting for five minutes, then we can learn to enjoy life in any situation. When we seek God with our whole heart, we’re not waiting on God, we’re growing in God. A relationship with God takes time to maintain. I’ve learned that seeking God with my whole heart has led to wonderful miraculous surprises. When you focus on God and realize He is all you need, blessings just seem to come when you least expect it.

Healing to your Body and Bones

Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8

Taking care of your body is essential to good health. But did you know that there is another way that can bring about healing? According to this scripture, fearing the Lord and turning away from evil can bring health and healing to your body and bones. Will you fear the Lord and turn from evil to be healed today?

They are not Getting Away

Proverbs 24:1-2 (KJV):
1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

This is a great scripture and gives insight on the type of decisions we should be making in life. I know personally I do not want to associate with evil and it is important to not be envious against evil people. It may look like they are living a great life and that they get to do whatever they want to. But the word of God declares this: ”Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked. For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.” Proverbs 24:19-20 So the evil men are not getting away with anything. They will be cut off and destroyed.

Comfort

“Wait on the Lord be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart wait, I say on the Lord.” Psalms 27:14

The time that I found that I needed courage the most was when I was going through what seemed like devastation to me. Whatever it is that is going on in your life that seems to make you feel somewhat uncomfortable, trust the Lord to know that he is available. He is there to strengthen your heart through all situations. Wait on the Lord and expect his comfort. He has promised it.

Filled

The Holy Spirit and the word of God can fill you to capacity in your life. Do you find that there are times when it feels like something in your life is missing? Have you ever felt a deep longing for something but did not know how to handle it? Rest assured that the word says that we can be filled and we are blessed because we hunger and thirst after righteousness.

Communication with the Lord is one of the most important aspects of your daily life. With opposition and challenges all around, how can we not pray all the time? Whether it is at home, school, work, in your back yard or wherever, continue to pray in your heart about things concerning the world, your life, your family, the lives of others, ones who are in need, and the list is endless. Always pray. You have nothing to lose but much to gain.

The Secret to Provision

“The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:10

Seeking the Lord is the secret to not lacking any good thing. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” In other words, if you take care of God’s kingdom and business he will take care of yours.

Make the Heart of God Glad

“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to your name, O most High.” Psalm 9;1-2

Today, let us take the time to rejoice in the Lord, give him the praise that he so richly deserves and tell of his marvelous works and blessings. With gladness we should rejoice in him and sing praise to his name. He is waiting for our praises. He deserves them. Make the heart of God glad today.
